Anansi’’s Gold: The Man Who Looted the West, Outfoxed Washington, and Swindled the World

The astounding, never-before-told story of how an audacious Ghanaian con artist pulled off one of the 20th century’s longest-running and most spectacular frauds. When Ghana achieved independence from Britain in 1957, it instantly became a target for home-grown opportunists and rapacious Western i

nterests determined to claim whatever assets colonialism hadn’t already stripped. A CIA-funded military junta ousted the new nation’s inspiring president, Kwame Nkrumah, then falsely accused him of hiding the country’s gold overseas. Into this big lie stepped one of history’s most charismatic scamm

ers, a con man to rival the trickster god Anansi. Born into poverty in Ghana and trained in the United States, John Ackah Blay-Miezah declared himself custodian of an alleged Nkrumah trust fund worth billions. You, too, could claim a piece, if only you would help Blay-Miezah rescue it-with your inve

stment. Over the 1970s and ’80s, he and his accomplices-including Ghanaian state officials and Nixon’s former attorney general-scammed hundreds of millions of dollars out of thousands of believers. Blay-Miezah lived in luxury, deceiving Philadelphia lawyers, London financiers, and Seoul businessmen

alike, all while eluding his FBI pursuers. American prosecutors called his scam "one of the most fascinating-and lucrative-in modern history." In Anansi’s Gold, Yepoka Yeebo chases Blay-Miezah’s ever-wilder trail. She unfolds a riveting account of Cold War entanglements, international finance, and

postcolonial betrayal, revealing how what we call history writes itself into being one lie at a time.

The Hunters Guild: Red Hood, Vol. 1: Volume 1

A grim take on Grimm tales, one where the hunted become the hunters! In a world where fairy tales are fact and humans live in fear of werewolves, witches, and ghouls, only the Hunter’s Guild can keep the monsters at bay. These red-hooded fighters are anything but little, and only those able to pay a

king’s ransom can afford their services. But they’re the world’s most elite fighters, and their fees are a small price to pay to stay alive. And as one boy from a tiny hamlet is about to find out, the hunters have a plan to eradicate the werewolves once and for all, just as they did the dragons long

, long ago... In an isolated hamlet lives a boy named Velou who wants nothing more than to protect his beloved neighbors from the werewolf terrorizing the town. Why, even the town’s mayor and its skilled huntsmen are unable to handle the situation on their own anymore. In a desperate attempt to save

his people, the mayor hires the Hunter’s Guild to exterminate the werewolf. But after paying an arm and a leg for the Guild’s services, Velou and the citizens are disappointed when a little girl in a red hood named Grimm shows up instead of the big, strong hunter they were expecting. Velou is skept

ical of Grimm’s ability to handle the werewolf--surely the mayor has been scammed by the Hunter’s Guild, right?! Will Velou and the hamlet ever be able to live happily ever after?
